Chemotherapy is a wonderful treatment that has saved many people and cured them from their cancer. However, that doesn't mean that that treatment is easy. In fact, the treatment can be extremely taxing and you might deal with one of the unpleasant side effects of nausea. Here are some things that you can do to better cope with the nausea during chemotherapy.

1. Eat Plain Foods Throughout The Day

You should treat the nausea much like pregnant women treat pregnancy nausea. Eating more small meals throughout the day, rather than three large meals, is one of the most common ways to deal with nausea. You should always have things like crackers, nuts, and other simple foods around to snack on.

In addition to eating often, you should eat foods that are plain and avoid fatty, greasy, or sugary foods. These foods tend to cause upset stomachs in people who are feeling well, so for someone who is already disadvantaged with nausea they can be terrible.

2. Drink Plenty Of Fluids

Another concern with nausea is that you will become dehydrated. Although you may feel like you aren't thirsty, you will become more and more nauseous the more dehydrated you are. This is why you need to be drinking lots of water throughout the day. Be sipping on water even when you are not thirsty.

You can also chew on ice cubes. This can help to curb the nausea and can help to keep you hydrated. Cold drinks will be better on your stomach than drinks that are thick and hot.

3. Slow Down When You Eat

When you eat you should slow down and let your body digest the food while you eat. Try to not eat everything quickly. This can be challenging if you are trying to eat just so you will feel better. You might be tempted to eat as fast as possible, but this can be dangerous and you could easily vomit it back up.

In addition, after you eat, rest for a few minutes. Don't lie down, as this can give you heart burn, but sit down and let your body work on digesting the food before you get up and try to do things.

If even after all of these things you still feel nauseous, you should talk to your doctor about getting a medication, or seek natural ways to deal with it, such as acupuncture.
